I decided to conduct this product review after experiencing a disaster at my own wedding last year. I wanted to cover up a tattoo of my ex-boyfriend’s name and the product I used left me flat at my wedding – I couldn’t cover it up! It was dumb of me not to try out the concealer before the big day and I paid a price for that. So, I decided to compare the different tattoo concealers out there to see what works best - hope this is helpful to you all!



"Tattoo Camo"

Positives:

  • Covers all tattoo colors with just one layer

  • Dries fast

  • Water resistant lasts the entire day

  • The different shades blend easily, perfectly matching the skin tone

  • Can be used on scars, skin blemishes, birth marks, and stretch marks

  • No shadow visible from underneath

  • Comes with setting powder

  • Guaranteed

Negatives:

  • A little expensive

  • Does not include Magic Shield Setting Spray

"Mehron Make-up Tattoo Covers"

Positives:

  • 2 to 5 shades on color wheel

  • Nice packaging

  • Works on blemishes

  • Powder prevents rubbing-off       

Negatives:

  • Must be layered and layered

  • Does not dry fast

  • Does not seem to be made to cover the colors of today’s tattoos, but more for flesh colored scars

  • No guarantee


"Kat Von D Sephora Tattoo Concealer"

Positives:
  • Great tattoo artist   

  • Good selection of shades

  • Multi-tasking concealer

  • Creamy & blendable                                                                                        

 Negatives:

  • This is the one that left me at the altar!

  • Complicated four-step system

  • Price includes only one tube

  • Takes a great deal of work to apply

  • Frankly, I was disappointed that from a major cosmetic firm it would be so watery and runny

  • Takes too long to dry

  • Covers fair, seems like they are really using her name to sell make-up

"Smart Cover"

Price: $15.00

Positives:

  • Very cheap

  • Lots of different items available but that makes it 
    complicated and time consuming to figure out 
    what you need.

  • Guaranteed

 Negatives:

  • Looks like it was made for flesh colored marks, tattoos were probably an afterthought

  • Multi steps, takes a lot of time

  • Drying takes a long time

  • I wonder how a product can cover tattoos and also be good for wrinkles (on their website). Seems it wants to be all things to all people.

"ColorTration"

Positives:

  • Not too many steps

  • Can be blended, but that takes two steps

  • Liquid concealer make-up

  • Available in pump bottle and can be used 
    with a make-up brush

 Negatives:

  • Thin consistency, takes long to dry

  • Rubs off easily

  • Must be sealed with a spray - cutting off air flow to skin/ skin cannot breath.

  • That spray is only recommended for legs and body

  • Hard to remove

  • No guarantee

"Cover Mark"

  • Box looks neat

  • Mid-priced

  • Can be used to cover age spots

  • It takes forever to apply, must be layered and layered which makes it difficult to dry

  • Shadowy look is still visible underneath those layers of make-up
